I didn't hate this book. In fact, the splash page it starts with is pretty darned incredible. The falling jet from the sky is pretty inspiring. But very little actually happens in the course of this book. Geoff is in trouble, and we're on the chase. I liked seeing a bunch of the paranoia that the geomancer faced through the book, getting stuck, and falling under water. But the vast majority of the book just seemed to show yet another perspective of 'this place gets messed up when the power all goes off.'
Not as silly as Wonder Man... POWER Man!
A great concept for a story. Excellent. Now, it is told in the Sixties, so it has some serious concerns with its storytelling. Again, how much can a story be compressed? Too much happens in so many parts. But it doesn't destroy the concept of the story. Subtle defeat of the Avengers through legal wrangling, and tiny shifts in power use. I liked using the Enchantress - she's a decent villain - she comes from the nastier parts of the pantheon of villains, but it is a fun little romp.
