D.P. 7
D.P. 7This is probably the issue that most people recollect most fondly when looking back on the New Universe. Calling it an X-Men ripoff is much too fleeting a look at the comic. It brings together seven individuals - all blessed AND cursed with their individual exceptionalities. This difference in the title - that the people have powers WITH consequences makes it most different from the other titles. Not only do the characters have burdens in the story, but the characters' actions have real consequences, too. Everything doesn't always brush and clean up at the end of the story. They are poor - and often resort to questionable moral decisions.
In addition, each character seemed real in insecurities and problems. Scuzz laments often about his inability to be intimatewith any other individual, and instead of just being a stunningly beautiful person, he's ragingly insecure - and a total jerk. The powers aren't always just great powers, either. He STINKS! It's one place that writers kept coming back to, as well. Marvel brought back D.P. 7 in Quasar as soon as the line closed, too. |
