Anticipated the demise of this mess. That so many of the books had lost their love - and stepping away from the comics industry was probably one of the best things that anyone in the realm of comics could have really done for the titles. But this kind of effort? Cancel it. The story looks much better than it really is. The story follows a sort of exploration into Nazi-dom and the extent that Gil MIGHT have tried to overturn some extremist regime. But for NO ONE to have any kind of reference for what he was... No pictures? Anything? Bleah. It's an unbelievable premise - and most of the story is just him really arriving at the camp, and exerting his new dominance. Terribly forgettable.
Not a bad little book.
I am not a great fan of the Avengers in this era - but this one was halfway decent - maybe even a little more than. The issue surrounds the Living Laser - and unfortunately highlights some of Stan Lee's larger errors on the field of science and tech. I know he was making it up as he went along, but... The comic is pretty good, though. A bit too sexist for my tastes. If a female hero talks again about going to a hairdresser, I may get sick. But the fighting against the villain includes a few choice notes. The comment about not letting the Laser know he's starting to defeat him, especially excellent. I kinda liked it. But not much competition.
