Really, this is so much more of an Archer and Armstrong comic - heck - it's more of an Ivar comic than of Eternal Warrior. The line introduces a new character - and you can already feel the presence of the new character - one that doesn't even get his own comic until after Archer and Armstrong collapses. Nice to see this comic - but Valiant is tearing itself apart here. BWS will never return to a company that he helped forge, and the company has become a 'company.' Interesting re-telling of the Three Musketeers fable - the brothers as a part, and especially through its accelerated pace. Fun story, but nothing for the ages, here. Especially as BWS shortly jumps ship following - too dark here.
Back to the Future
I would love to say that I loved this book. I wanted to. How many times has this cover been shown as such an icon to not only the Marvel Comics reign, but one of the high points of the Silver Age, and a hard connection to the Golden Age of comics. It isn't. This was rather painful to get through. It does tell Cap's origin, and that's significant. But the battle against the broccoli-headed alien may be one of the most silly parts of this or any other book. Nice to see powers being used, and its sad to see Hulk and Namor - some of the best villains of this era - with true sensibilities, weaknesses, and sides. Wasted. As for Cap, he joins to forever change the team, but... Ugh. Outside of the cover, what a stinker.
Really?
I'm not as much a fan of the comic - especially as an Eternal Warrior comic, but as far as a story goes, it's mountains better than Avengers 4. I know, I shouldn't think this. Sorry.
