Well, this issue thankfully closes the book of the Geomancer story. One or two quick cute quips was all this book was really good for. The story? Ugh. And this is Eternal Warrior. Became one of the coolest books under the BRIEF helm of Barry Windsor-Smith, and quickly relegated to the bottom of the barrel for Valiant. Gil starts to finish up the battle with the whip guy, and some crazy half-werewolf dude. It's nice to see some weakness expressed in Gil - the poison - but for the most part, this book is a quick attempt to recapture the book of the Geomancer, so Darque can't get his grubby paws on it. Of course, he doesn't find it - but then Gil puts it in the Sphinx, of course.
Title says it all
Versus the lava man. In red. Wow. This one is pretty darned terrible. Certainly these comics had success. The writing was this good. Of course, if the writing was this good - it's hard to imagine something else being worse. The villains look like a bad episode of Scooby-Doo. Truly, I wondered why this comic stayed bi-monthly for a while, but as bad as it is - it's relatively easy to see why. Now, with that said, the characters seem to be developing well within the comic. Seeing signs of the standard Stan Lee and Kirby stuff - the establishing of history, telling, etc. The stories? Wow.
